Accelerating ESG Progress through Partners

Working with its partners and subsidiaries to develop smart solutions for a better future, Acer invests in initiatives to help reduce emissions, conserve energy, and increased productivity. To reduce carbon emissions, the company has joined forces with its partners in support of biofuel, including sustainable marine and aviation fuels, demonstrating its commitment to the realization of the UN SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals ) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Acer subsidiaries are also working in various areas of sustainable solutions for everyday life. With its new business, Acer continued its media connection to technology and health, responding to SDG 3 (Health and Well-Being). Its subsidiary, Acer Medical, offers AI-assisted treatment solutions including diagnostic software for diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and osteoporosis, aiming to empower doctors with actionable information. As a people-oriented company, Acer pursues the development and innovation of “Conscious Technology” with people at heart and the planet in mind.

Work towards Net Zero

Acer has committed to achieve zero emissions by 2050 through a low-carbon transition and climate plan that defines nine areas under three main pillars: business operations, products and services, and select prices. By practicing the command of using “intelligent, circular, and innovative applications,” Acer has delivered to the realm of renewable energy and energy storage. It has begun to invest in an electrical engineering, design, and construction company Taiwan to increase the commercialization of green energy; has also accumulated in battery technology and now offers energy storage solutions along the supply chain, from the home to the factory, manufacturing to the utility, and the end to before and after the meter contributes to the power change.

In 2023, Acer expanded its Vero portfolio of eco-friendly products with its first carbon-neutral laptop, the Aspire Vero 16 (AV15-53P). Acer requires consumers to increase the amount of renewable electricity used in the production of its products, as a result, the final assembly of the Aspire Vero 16 has used 100% renewable electricity. In addition, Acer is strongly connected with key suppliers, especially those with higher production volumes, such as LCD panelmakers, that use renewable energy in their systems to reduce the use of carbon and the overall carbon footprint of the Aspire Vero 16.

Continue to March Forward on ESG Initiatives

Acer’s efforts to make ESG a sustainable part of its business continue to receive international awards. It was listed in TIME’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2024 with a method that takes into account companies’ participation in respected climate programs such as the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), CDP scores, and whether they have incorporated sustainability in their business model. In addition, Acer received the Platinum medal from EcoVadis’ Sustainability Rating for three years, representing the top 1% of certified companies. Acer will remain steadfast in its ESG efforts as it works towards its goals of achieving 100% renewable electricity by 2035 and net zero by 2050.
